Masons in the village each year select a charity to benefit from their annual fundraising effort. In the last five years, more than £10,000 has been handed over.
"2007's year`s charity, Maggie`s Centre at Glasgow`s Western Infirmary, was a popular choice and the total raised proved to be a record high", said Hector Black, master of Lodge Eaglesham 1265. "The work being done by the team at Maggie`s Centre has helped thousands of local patients and their families".
Members of Lodge Eaglesham 1265 are very aware that the practice of charity is one of the keystones on which Freemasonry is based.
